IGNITE was formed in 2005 to promote the issues and to support young professionals, in Cayuga County and the Finger Lakes area.

Relay for Life 2009
IGNITE members volunteered at Relay for life and kept walkers active with relay contests and games. A big "Thank you" to Finch for Assembly team for partnering up with IGNITE for the night.

YMCA-WEIU Annual Fundraiser
The IGNITE Steering Committee endorses supporting the Auburn YMCA-WEIU Annual Support Campaign. This is an annual appeal to raise scholarship funds and underwrite the cost of Y programs. A central facet of the Y’s philosophy states “No child is turned away for an inability to pay.” YMCA programs build healthy spirits, minds and bodies for our community’s youth. Your contribution ensures that every child who wants to participate in Y programs may, regardless of financial condition. The Y continues to offer a multi-faceted array of programs including aquatics, youth sports, preschool, summer camp, wellness, piano lessons, poetry writing and much more. Your contribution can make a tremendous difference in a young person’s life.

What your dollars could do:

$50 enables a child to join a 7 week basketball program

$85 funds 3 months of rehabilitative swimming for a senior citizen, allowing them to maintain their health and independence while staying connected with their community

$100 underwrites ten weeks of Kids Challenge, improving the health of an elementary school student by providing nutritional counseling and physical activity

$150 affords a child the opportunity to join the YMCA and participate in healthy activities in a safe, supervised environment

$250 sends a child to summer camp for 2 weeks.

$500 provides safe, after school child care for a youth for 14 weeks

$750 allows a family struggling to make ends meet a safe haven to bond and build memories, while engaging in quality, life-enriching programs

$1000 enrolls a preschooler in Y-Preschool for a school year, allowing him or her to gain the skills necessary to succeed in school.

For 150 years, the Auburn YMCA has been a force for good in Auburn, beginning as a social reform movement addressing the societal evils of the industrial revolution. Throughout its long history, the Y has continually adapted and responded to society’s ever-changing challenges, making it as relevant today as when it started.
