I•G•N•I•T•E Kick-off Attracts
75 Young Professionals

(2/8/05): I•G•N•I•T•E drew an enthusiastic crowd of young professionals to its February 3rd luau kick-off event at the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce in Auburn.
 
Participants pledged to combine their talents and resources to improve the area.

I•G•N•I•T•E was formed to channel and focus that positive energy. The importance of I•G•N•I•T•E's mission was eloquently presented by renowned speaker and professional development specialist, Gwendolyn Webber-McLeod. She is very excited and supportive of I•G•N•I•T•E, and eagerly passed on her words of wisdom and encouragement to future members.

This event was the first of many for I•G•N•I•T•E, whose plans include community reinvestment projects, social events and professional development workshops and seminars. I•G•N•I•T•E, which is sponsored by the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce, is striving to redefine the term "young professional." The group seeks to appeal to goal-oriented individuals between the ages of 21 - 39 with a mind set to pursue a career path. That set doesn't just include bankers and lawyers, but also artists, farmers and tradesmen. The luau gave this demographic the opportunity to meet and mingle, and learn more about how they can work together to improve our community.

The luau featured numerous door prizes, giveaways, a Hawaiian-inspired buffet and entertainment. This event would not have been possible without the generous support of area businesses. The I•G•N•I•T•E Steering Committee would like to thank:

I•G•N•I•T•E's next event is an ice skating social at Casey Park rink, on North Division Street, on Wednesday, February 23rd from 5:30 - 7:30PM.
