IGNITE Celebrates First Birthday!

(03/13/06):IGNITE, Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals’ Group, will celebrate its first birthday with a special event, Wednesday March 29, 2006. The “March Madness” themed event is an opportunity for members, supporters and the whole community to come out and celebrate the group’s first year of success.

As part of the group’s focus in the upcoming year is to find new ways to encourage its members and other Young Professionals to engage in the local community, the event also serves as a fundraiser for Freedom Recreational Services. Freedom Recreational Services is a local non profit organization that provides recreational and social opportunities for youth with disabilities in Auburn and Cayuga County. With the theme already centered on sports and recreation, Timothy Fox, IGNITE Chair says the pairing is “a perfect fit.”

“Our group wanted badly to use this particular occasion as a fundraiser. With ‘March Madness’ as the theme, Freedom Rec immediately jumped to mind as an ideal group for which to raise funds,” said Fox.

Helping to sponsor the event, which will take place at the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce, are Coburn Design, Daddobos’ Pizza, SCHOTT Fiber Optics, the Auburn Double Days, Everyday Massage and the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse. The evening will feature entertainment, games and a raffle of great prizes including: a Four Pack to the Double Days, A Free Hour Long Massage, a SCHOTT Beach Lounge Pack, tickets to Merry-Go-Round’s upcoming production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story and a DVD Player.

Admission to the event is $3. Attendees are encourages to dress in their Alumni gear or favorite teams attire. Please RSVP for the event by contacting the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce at 252-7291.
