IGNITE invites you back to Freshman Year – YP101!

(05/11/06):IGNITE, Cayuga County Chamber of  Commerce’s Young Professionals’ Group, offers a trip “back to your  freshman year” with a series of informative seminars designed for Young Professionals with YP 101. The event will take place Tuesday evening May 23, 2006 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the Business and Industry Center of  Cayuga Community College. Registration begins at  5:30pm.

Attendees can choose from a slate of short  seminars on topics from The Importance of Local Government, led by  Cayuga County Legislator and IGNITE member Dan Schuster, to The  Basics of Home Buying, taught by Mr. Roger Mills of Tompkins Trust  Company, to Designing on a Dime with interior designer and local  fashion maven Jesse Kline. Other classes include: Networking 101 presented by Laura Coburn of Coburn Design; Retirement Planning:  Investing in your Future taught by Ryan Pine of Northwestern Mutual  and Personal Relaxation and Stress Reduction with Maria  DeMitchell-Wechsler of Everyday Massage.

“We wanted the YP 101 seminars to not  only fit our goals with IGNITE, professional development, community  involvement, etc, but also be fun and  informative,” said  IGNITE Steering Committee Vice-Chair and the event’s committee chair, Mary Beth Leeson. Noting their commitment to community involvement, Leeson further added that IGNITE has chosen The Gavras Center as beneficiary for YP 101. “Attendees are asked to ‘pay their  entry’ with new or used books, preferably children’s books, which  will then be donated to The Gavras Center.” In addition to the schedule of classes, YP 101 will include a 50/50 raffle, refreshments and an opportunity to  learn about the work of The Gavras Center.

Sponsors for the event include Tompkins  Trust Company, LocalNet, Cayuga Community College and the Institute  for the Application of Global Technology.
